Panorama Jazz Band
The Panorama Jazz Band was formed in 1995 by clarinetist Ben Schenck. The band plays a variety of styles: jazz you can dance to, Jewish klezmer, Creole biguines from the Caribbean island of Martinique and folk music from the Balkan nations of Eastern Europe. All melodies are brought to the band using transcriptions made from recordings by Mr. Schenck.
The Panorama Jazz Band Klezmer Brigade (a klezmer brass band) is the official marching band for the “highly successful” Krew du Jieux, a Jewish sub-krewe of the Krewe du Vieux which parades through the French Quarter every year to kick-off Mardi Gras.
