About the YALA Fa La La 2023
Cocktails for a Cause
It’s the return of our holiday party
YALA Fa La La is a winter fundraiser with a cozy house party vibe, scheduled for November 30th from 6 - 9 p.m. The event is an opportunity for YALA to connect with the community and celebrate the arts. Community members can support the arts while enjoying live music, food, and beverages in their favorite cocktail attire.
The event will also feature a live auction of paintings created during our YALA Art Live fundraiser. Artwork was collaboratively live painted between talented arts students and professional artists at our event hosted at Urban South in April. Artwork was created jointly between professional artists and talented visual art students from Young Audiences Charter School, Lincoln Elementary School for the Arts, and West Jefferson High School.
For the second year in a row, Diamonds Direct returns as our Sparkle Sponsor! Every person who purchases a ticket is entered into a raffle with a chance to win one of three gift certificates from Diamonds Direct for some bling right before the holidays!
This year’s event will be chaired by Gail Barnes McKenna & Colin Sternhell along with honored chairs, Dr. Tamer Acikalin and Stella Del Bianco. A special thank you to the event committee: Beverly Matheney, Nicole Mingledorff, Marguerite Moisio, Jamelyn Trucks, and Mario Zervignon.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy a special live arts auction. Professional artists and local talented arts students collaboratively live-painted the works of art during our YALA Art Live event held in April at partner Urban South Brewery.
A special thank you to our artists: Lanyra Brown, 12th grade West Jefferson High School and Max Bernardi; Shawn Carter, 12th grade Young Audiences Charter School and Alina Allen; Sanai Doxey, 8th grade Lincoln Elementary School for the Arts and Jamar Pierre; and Kailib Hoang, 11th grade, Young Audiences Charter School and Kentrice Schexnayder.

The Impact of 60 Years and One Mission.
YALA was founded in December of 1962 with the simple goal of bringing chamber music to New Orleans students and expand access to the arts for all students. Sixty years later, we are still working to increase equitable access and student connections to the arts in a variety of ways through multiple art forms.
