Leading Arts Education Organization Set To Open School in Fall 2013
Since 1962 the local non-profit organization Young Audiences of Louisiana has led the state of Louisiana in arts education. At Wednesday night’s meeting of the Jefferson Parish School Board the board approved the non-profit to operate a new open enrollment charter school in Jefferson Parish for the 2013-14 school year.

Nearly 550 students at Rudolph Matas Elementary School in Metairie got a taste of Jazz Fest thanks to a grant from the Jazz and Heritage Foundation and performing artists from Young Audiences of Louisiana.

The City of New Orleans recognized Young Audiences of Louisiana’s 50 years of commitment to the arts with a proclamation on March 1, at the request of District "C" Councilmember Gisleson Palmer. "I am enormously proud of the work that Young Audiences does for the youth of New Orleans,” Palmer said. “This organization facilitates learning for children in a variety of ways and assists teachers in connecting student curriculums in an artistic way.”

On Saturday, March 3, Hollywood director and choreographer Adam Shankman saw a special performance of student tap, ballet, and African dance and drums at The Healing Center before fielding poignant questions from students about the industry.

Young Audiences of Louisiana is proud to announce that it will be presented with the prestigious Arts Education Award at the Gambit’s Big Easy Entertainment Awards’ Tribute to the Classical Arts. In addition to this honor, students from Young Audiences’ afterschool program at Woodmere Elementary are nominated for Best Ethnic Dance Presentation.

Young Audiences will hold its annual Spotlight this Thursday, March 12, at Tulane's McAlister Auditorium. Doors open at 6:40, performance begins at 7. Free and Open to the Public!

Annual Art Show Held At The School Curated By Master Teaching Artist Jamar Pierre
Students from Crocker Elementary will share their new artwork with the community on Friday, May 17th, 2013 at 6:00 PM at Crocker Arts and Technology School (2301 Marengo Street). The show is free and open to the community. Work will be for sale.

Arts Program Will Run June 3rd to July 26th in the Lower Garden District
Registration for the Young Audiences Summer Program at the Lyons Center will be held from Wednesday, April 17 through Friday, May 24 from 1PM to 3PM at Young Audiences offices at 615 Baronne Street, Suite 201.

Students in Young Audiences' after-school programs will give mom some extra cheer this Mother’s Day with handmade cards and gifts that were created by the students with their teaching artists.

Updated program offerings and an extensive list of performers highlight Young Audiences’ revamped website, aimed at making arts learning easier than ever.
