Young Audiences is now hiring the following positions for afterschool education programs in Hammond, LA
Application period closes: 5:00pm, 8/22/14
TEACHING ARTIST
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Providing creative, age-appropriate, educational workshops daily in a positive manner throughout the academic year
• Preparing a curriculum for each semester, including weekly lesson plans
• Coordinating all activities with the Site Coordinator, Instructors and YALA administration
• Preparing youth to present a culminating performance or activity
• Attending a minimum of 2 professional development sessions per semester provided by YALA free of charge
• Requesting supplies from YA office as needed (according to budget) and acquiring those supplies as needed
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Apprentice Teaching Artist
Program participants
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Demonstrated mastery of artistic medium or form
• Bachelors or masters degree in a related area of the arts preferred
Other Qualifications:
• Demonstrated involvement and commitment to the youth community
• Experience (volunteer/paid) working with youth
• Good administrative and supervisory skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of workshop activities and curriculum
• Experience teaching enrichment content to youth
• Artists from the Tangipahoa parish area preferred
COMPENSATION: hourly, $22/hr
HOURS: part-time, afterschool, appx 17.5 per/wk
