A Rhythmic Tour of the African Continent

Ivory Coast natives Seguenon Kone and Boubacar Cissoko provide a unique and informative program highlighting the role of the drum in African culture. Students will learn about the origins of various native percussion instruments, how they are played, and how to repair a broken drum. They will hear an African song and be able to play drums themselves while examining the cultural roots of rhythms and dances. The duo is able to adapt to school needs, focusing on one region of Africa or touring the continent.
