The Little House

Designed for grades K-3, The Little House uses Virginia Lee Burton’s classic children’s story of a lonely old house that is nearly overwhelmed by neglect and urbanization.

The lesson can be combined with an interactive art project, where the students draw, color, and construct their own “Little House.”

About Preservation Resource Center

Located in the historic Warehouse District of New Orleans, the Preservation Resource Center (PRC) has been preserving, restoring, and revitalizing New Orleans’ historic architecture and neighborhoods since 1974.  Since our founding, the PRC has grown into the leading voice protecting our city’s rich heritage.

Heritage Education programs began at the PRC in 2002 and has since given thousands of local students a greater appreciation of their city, neighborhoods, and houses. Drawing upon a wide range of resources, we now offer a diverse range of programming and field trips for grades K-12 that can accommodate the needs of any school or teacher.

The Heritage Education program is an initiative of the Preservation Resource Center’s Education & Outreach Department.
