This program will take the audience on a trip to Africa. Students will explore the culture of the coast of West Africa through song and dance, and audience members will be selected to play an instrument or learn a traditional African dance.
 

Drums move the body and the soul. N’Kafu Traditional African Dance Company will take you on a journey to the riches continent in the world. Students will gain a clear understanding of age-old values and folklore of the African people through dance and drumming.

Mathematical melodies uses various songs to illustrate the deep connection between music and mathematics. Students count and clap along as they learn musical concepts that are closely related to adding, multiplying and dividing.

This program is specifically designed for younger students to learn about the most basic concepts of music like melody, rhythm and singing. Participation is encouraged with percussion, clapping and call and response singing.

This program focuses on the history of music in Louisiana, and the special cultural significance that music plays in our daily lives here. Students get hands-on experience being able to play along with percussion instruments.

This lively and interactive performance introduces the colorful and exciting world of samba in Rio de Janeiro and Bahia Brazil and it's kinship to New Orleans carnival.
 

Ms. Joseph takes a fresh look at music from a neurological, physiological,mathematical and cellular perspective. This workshop is helpful to any teacher who wants to integrate music into the classroom curriculum.
 

Students will join the artists in creating musical phrases with their hands and feet, as they learn how to improvise through "body percussion" and sing along with some of the popular songs that inspired dancers of the past.
