Young Audiences' innovative and engaging programming can be customized to meet your schools individual needs. Below you will find a selection of programs offered by Young Audiences' trained teaching artists. Please contact us for more information.

 

Theater is an effective teaching tool in many situations and is surprisingly effective in making history more accessible and meaningful to students. This workshop enables teachers to develop active lesson plans by illustrating history through drama.
 

Artist: Mike Artell
Award-winning children's author/illustrator and TV cartoonist shows kids how to create wonderful cartoons that will help them think more visually. Kids draw along as Mike shows them how to draw people, animals, objects, special effects and much more.
 

The Terrific Traveling Troubadours invite children to travel to different cultures around the world. These charming and beloved tales teach important life lessons while inspiring an appreciation for reading.
 

The Classical Music of India program introduces the melodic and rhythmic structures of Indian music in an entertaining yet educational format. Featuring exquisite instruments like the tabla and sitar, students are engaged with creative sound play using word and note combinations.

This workshop focuses on presenting tools to aspiring poets/spoken word artists for stronger writing. Students learn how to find their own voice and rhythm in their writing.
 

Artist: Komenka
Recognized for their dynamic and colorful performances, Komenka presents dances from around the world.
 

In addition to being a field trip destination in and of itself, the PRC can also lead your class on a guided field trip of different neighborhoods, including visits to the French Quarter, Holy Cross in the Lower 9th, and the ReUse District, or design a custom trip for your class.

This residency will examine flags from around the world and look at their origins, and meaning.
 

Artist: Donald Lewis
Donald Lewis takes the students through history with this collection of stories from African and African American traditions. Students will laugh out loud during hilarious renditions of beloved stories.
 

Artist:
This workshop gives examples and tools for young writers in presenting their written work to audiences. Students are given devices for better stage presence, dramatizing their writing and understanding their audience.
 

Dancing is a great way for kids of all ages to get fit. Besides being fun, dancing has many positive health benefits. Students will be taught easy to follow dance routines set to high energy Latin and international music.
 

Goat in the Road Productions (GRP) presents four student-written plays performed by its award-winning company of professional actors, bringing high quality theatre filled with lights, sound, costumes & props to cafeterias, libraries and museums throughout Louisiana.
 

A delightful 45-minute version of this classic favorite!
 

Harmony has a definition in music, but more importantly in relationship building and conflict resolution. This program shares through musical experiences what it means to be "in harmony" with each other and how people have used music to communicate.

This interactive program is composed of well-loved stories from North America and around the world dealing with conflict resoulation. The audience participates in the series of stories as well as a discussion of important issues facing young people.
 

Artist: Toni B!
Travel the globe with master dance instructor Toni Batiste as she wows the audience with steps from the old world and modern dances. Students experience the music, dance and vocabulary particular to such varying regions as South America, Europe and North America.
 

Grayhawk draws students into another time period through stories and his original compositions of Native Americans. Students will become part of each story by portraying characters, singing refrains and learning a friendship dance.
 

The Panorama Jazz Band has adapted a special program of holiday songs from around the world that offer a unique musical and cultural experience. The program shows how music unites us all.
 

Halloween, Christmas, Mardi Gras, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, and Independence Day - find the story that's right for the season.
 

Artist: Frank Levy
Students can't help getting caught up in Instant Theater with award-winning educator and director Frank Levy as he enlists audiences members as the cast and crew of a theatrical, historical or famous event performed on the spot.
