Use music fundamentals to explore three heartwarming stories over six arts-integrated storytime workshops with Young Audiences of Louisiana and Louisiana Wolf Trap Teaching Artist Joel Willson. Come sing and move with us as we meet a giant with a big heart, a rooster who cannot stop singing, and a family who find comfort and history in the kitchen. 

We will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and Native American Heritage month by featuring the books: Dona Flor: A Tall Tale About a Giant Woman with a Great Big Heart by Pat Mora, an author of Mexican-American heritage; The Rooster Who Would Not Be Quiet by Carmen Agra Deedy, an author of Cuban heritage; and Fry Bread: A Native American Family Story by Kevin Noble Maillard, an author of Seminole heritage.

Attend one workshop or all six. Either way, you and your preschooler will have an active learning arts experience AND, as part of the program, every child who attends will receive a free book!

About YALA Community Arts and Literacy Program

Young Audiences of Louisiana’s (YALA) Community Arts and Literacy Program is a series of arts-integrated workshops at local libraries to assist caregivers with early literacy strategies they can implement at  home. While the subject manner focuses on families with children in preschool through kindergarten, it is open to all ages.
